DO I NEED A LAWYER TO GET a missouri HARDSHIP LICENSE?

Many times, suspended or revoked drivers can request a limited driving privilege directly from the Missouri Department of Revenue. Information about whether you qualify and a link to a form to apply can be found at the MO DOR’s website. However, if you have an active five- or ten-year license denial, you must petition the circuit court for limited driving privileges. Special rules also apply if you have been convicted of a felony involving a motor vehicle or if you currently attend or have graduated from DWI Court.

LICENSE REINSTATEMENT AFTER 5 OR 10 YEAR DENIALS

In Missouri, two alcohol-related convictions within a five-year period result in a five-year license denial. Three alcohol-related convictions in a lifetime results in a ten-year license denial. To be reinstated after a denial, a driver must petition the Court where the last conviction occurred.

Fingerprinting is required for a license reinstatement. If the criminal history shows no alcohol- or drug-related findings of guilt since the last conviction, and if the judge believes the driver no longer poses a threat to society, then reinstatement is granted. The driver must keep an ignition interlock device on his vehicle for at least six months.

clean up YOUR MISSOURI DRIVING RECORD

If you have several Missouri traffic convictions more than three years old, I usually can have them removed from your official driving record. Although this does not affect the underlying conviction or court file, it does remove the information from Missouri Department of Revenue records. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I have over thirty years of experience helping clients successfully petition for their limited driving privileges and license reinstatement.
